Activity Spaces are more than just for fun and play, and can be created within bedrooms or playrooms. At an early age, we want to motivate our children to enjoy their learning experiences while developing new skills. A child’s environment can change the way they thrive. This week, we put together 5 Gender-Neutral Spaces that inspire creativity and make learning fun at home!
1. @asongforjames
Kristine created this multi-purpose bedroom space that doubles as an activity area for her son James. As he climbs into bed, Our Sheer Canopy in Mist creates a cozy feel, while our Charmeuse Star Pillow in Oyster can serve as a comfortable cushion he can hug at night. We love this little play zone he can enjoy as soon as he wakes up and slides out of bed. The mix of decals on the wall and blue-green accent pieces add a nice personal touch to the space. In another side of the room, a dedicated area for organising toys encourages children to clean up after their play time. Can you spot our Dreamy Princess Doll Olivia and Mr. Bear? We’re sure his little sister Olivia loves to play here too!
2. @juliasalk
For this fun nook, Julia selected pastel and creamy colors with light wood elements for a subtle whimsical feel. Placing an area rug creates a frame to section the space. A gallery wall features playful pieces such as garlands, droplets, balloons, wicker accessories, and fixtures to hang toys. The main element here is a playhouse bookshelf that is both functional and decorative, which doubles as a storage space and a doll house for imaginative play. Cushions on the floor always make an area cozier, and Puppy Jr. makes a fun play mate!
3. @our_oakland_home
This safari-themed room by Lianne is a wonderful inspiration on how to bring a sense of the outdoors into our indoor areas. Starting off with grey neutrals create a great base that can easily be decorated and occasionally updated through accessories. Pieces with pops of color can instantly change the look of a room, such as this Sheer Canopy in Mustard Yellow. The animal wallpaper and decor emphasize the theme, and a few plants breathe life into the space.
4. @pretty.playful.playtime
Once an extra storage room, Candice transformed this space to an enriching activity room. This area is a bit more structured compared to the different play zones they have around their home, and is primarily dedicated for learning. Each section houses resources she has gathered through the years for her son’s home therapy, as well as activities both her kids can use to learn how to read, count and identify colors. We love the calm zone she set up with materials from @generationmindful, placed right beside our Sheer Canopy in Cloud with Mini Pom Garlands in Light Blue that can be used as a calming meditation corner.
5. @littletipper_
This white and grey space by Katrina is a wonderful interactive room with multiple activity areas that encourage active play and learning. Her kids can have a mini obstacle course with a wall climbing feature and wooden bars, challenge their kitchen skills in their adorable bakery set up and even focus on some desk work in their table set up. The possibilities for imaginative play here are endless! When it’s time to calm down and tuck into bed, a Sheer Canopy in Mist on top of the bed creates a dreamy atmosphere.
We hope these activity spaces inspire you to challenge your creativity and design a space your children will truly enjoy!
Be Inspired,
Mutya
