A New Year for Magical Spaces

roominspoI love the possibilities that each new year brings.  A chance to start again, a chance to do things better and a chance to review and refresh our spaces!

In approaching your room refresh, I’d like to share with you a simple one-pager tool you can use to visualize your thoughts! @eightyseventhstory’s Aleisha Corr who is an Interior Stylist from Victoria, Australia has put together a beautiful example of what a mood board could look like for a Dreamy Princess-themed room. See below how she selected her colorways, products and tied them all together:

1.       Start with your OBJECTIVE.  One statement that captures what do you want to achieve.  i.e Create an X for X.

2.       Select your COLORWAY.  I usually do a base of 3 colors and 2 accent colors that complement.

3.       List down the key PRODUCTS you need for your room project.  Start with the key piece like the bed or cot, plan your wall whether you will change the paint color or use decals, and then work your way around these two elements.

4.       Create your MOODBOARD. This helps a lot in crystallizing how everything comes together and deciding if you need to add more or edit down.

If you are in the mood for a room recharge and make your space magical, here are our some of our personal picks to provide some inspiration! We’re also preparing to decorate my niece’s room this month so we shall definitely put our room decorating planner into good use and share the process with you soon.

Have a Magical 2020!
