A Shared Magical Space

As mothers with more than one child, it is our desire that our children become each other’s best friend. Shared spaces are not only for those who have space constraints. My sister Maricel and I have seen wonderful “pros” as our children grow up in shared rooms.

When children are sharing a room, this encourages them to spend time together and create a bond. If all their toys and activities are in that common space, an important life lesson kids learn is to share. When they have issues, they will learn to resolve. Early on, they will also be able to practice how to get along and adjust to interacting with other individuals.

We created a shared space to inspire those whose children are currently sharing a room and for those who may be having a baby and need to redecorate their child’s room to accommodate a new member of the family.

For this space, we have decided to play around with pink and grey as our base colors to demonstrate how these hues can work well together.

The left side of this room is the baby’s space. We chose a calming Light Grey combined with creamy beiges and light pink. We echoed that but in a different way for our little girl’s area where white and cream became the main colors and are accentuated by touches of light grey and pink.

On the right side, we put together a curious magical set-up for a little girl. We hung our Damselfly fairy dolls along with our Large Sparkle Poms in White. We used nylon wire tied to the bed frame to make them look like they are floating in mid-air. Using these poms add some magic as an alternative to a canopy.

We have also created another option for a pink and grey space to be shared by sisters who are no longer babies by changing the crib to a cloud bed. These separate areas respect the individuality of each child. The secret is having unifying colorways.

For a common area that these girls can both enjoy, we placed our Bunny Library in the center of the room. Our Charmeuse Silk Star Pillows in Light Pink, Oyster, Silver and Pale Gold can be used as the perfect cushions for their reading time together. They can also have imaginative play sessions with our friends: Bunny Princess in Oyster, Bitbit the Rabbit in Ivory, Lily Lashful Fox, Callie Lashful Bear, Damselfly Doll in Pink and White.

To complete this Shared Magical Space, we added our Star Pillows in Charmeuse Silk. They are soft, smooth and provide comfort when kids play and lounge on the floor. You will also notice that we chose a combination of wall decals from Blond Noir, Ginger Monkey and Isla Dream Prints, that tie in all the colors beautifully.

We hope this encourages you to create your own Shared Magical Spaces!
