As part of our new normal, we may sometimes feel restricted in the creative executions we wish to do for our family celebrations especially when it comes to celebrating our little one’s birthday. Worry not, because there are endless possibilities within our reach that we can execute with a little creativity. If we maintain a welcoming and positive mindset, we will exude the same invitation for our children to do the same – brave challenges and enjoy themselves along the way.
For this blog, we put together a simple planner to help you celebrate your little girl’s birthday in the comfort of your own home!
SELECT A THEME
When planning a celebration, it helps to consider what your creative vision is and your child’s personality and faves. This leads us to choosing a theme that will set the tone for your set up, color story, program, music, activities and treats to be served.
We chose a Magical Unicorn Birthday theme for our party, with gray and pink as our base colors. To set the theme, we have our Dreamy Canopy in Light Grey festively dressed up with our Unicorn Bust and Mini Pom-Pom Garlands in Light Pink.
PLAN YOUR PROGRAM
To create a personal experience despite the distance, ignite the five senses.
1. A beautiful set up already excites the sense of sight.
2. Have a fun activity the kids can do together to encourage the sense of touch.
3. Play music aligned with your theme that attends to the sense of hearing.
4. Select delectable treats for guests to savor the moment together to include the sense of taste and smell.
ORGANIZE YOUR SET UP
We created different areas within our Magical Unicorn Birthday set up to accommodate a few activities in our program.
We brought out our furniture set— the Butterfly Chair, Clip Stool and Clip Table for the celebrant and for the gifts and treats.
We created another area where the family can come together with virtual party guests. We put up our Sheer Teepee in Ballerina and prepared a tablescape with our Little Unicorns, Mini Pom Garlands in Light Grey as bouquets and a unicorn-inspired, homemade vanilla cake. We placed cushions on the floor along with our Charmeuse Silk Star Pillows in Light Pink and Hushed Violet for extra comfort. Adding floral and butterfly decals on the wall complete this whimsical set up.
SEND YOUR INVITES
Your children will surely love to celebrate this occasion with their closest friends. Be sure to include your party details, and instructions on how to use your selected meeting platform. We love to use Google Meet which has all the basic features you will need without the pressure of time, but Zoom is also a great platform as it fun features like a “white board” which you can use for games.
We recommend sending out invites in advance along with a curated set of items that will make them feel like they’re at the party, too. This can include: 1) Something to wear, like a Le Pom-Pom headband; 2) Activity, such as a Little Unicorn toy they can dress up and accessorize; and a 3) Treat, like a mini cake they can eat after blowing the candles.
