Our surroundings impact our behavior and how we think, and this is significantly more important for children in their formative years. As mothers, we have an instinct to look after the needs of children and create an environment that they can thrive in that spark inspiration, joy, and motivation for learning.
Children at an early age can be able to focus on the task at hand with the help of calm guidance, rhythm, and a well thought out activity space at home. This week, we put together 5 Magical Activity Spaces styled by Mums to provide inspiration as you get ready for yours!
Kristine created this playroom for her children, James and Olivia, using a color scheme of grays and whites for a gender-neutral space. Placing a Dreamy Canopy in White in the corner of the room creates a lovely nook Olivia can nestle in for imaginative play, while James can enjoy playing with his toy cars over a carpet with a racetrack design. She set up fun activities that both children will enjoy such as the play kitchen and market, which can easily be moved around.
This vibrant room by Taneisha looks like it came straight out of a fairytale book, with robust hues of mustard, old rose and light blue and eye-catching floral wall accents. The Sheer Canopy in Mustard Yellow add a pop of contrast for a lovely reading nook. Charmeuse Silk Pillows and a faux fur rug add an extra cozy feel. Apart from having a relaxing corner, having classic wooden desk set up is perfect for when it’s time to focus on studying. The continuing theme of having floral wall accents create a wonderful atmosphere.
Holly beautifully organized her daughter’s toys and outfits to put together this dainty activity space that’s perfect for indoor picnics, playing dress up and hosting tea parties. Hooks on the wall and white clothing racks are great space savers and chic organizers. The Dreamy Canopy in Champagne is so versatile in this set up—it can be a reading nook, a dressing room and even a venue for little play parties. Plant decor accents add a special contrast as well!
Sunniva created this beautiful pink and grey play area for her daughter Emma. We love the elements she put together such that the space can also serves as a functional atmosphere for her to work in while she watches her daughter play. A ball pit is great for sensory play, and dedicated section under a Princess Canopy in Pink for her dolls encourages imaginative play. Wall decals with playful details and words create an inspiring workspace that she can use, and eventually her daughter can also make use of as she gets older.
Sam put together functional gender-neutral spaces for her kids. Placing an area rug is a great way to create a different section in a room. She placed a Dreamy Canopy in White over this couch, which creates the perfect space to bond and join her kids for reading time–with easy access to a bookcase right beside. In this play area, having a big carpet makes the floor safe for playing different games and activities. Shelving units that children can easily reach are great for encouraging kids to be able to pack up their own toys when they are done playing. Her selection of minimal wall art and plants add life to the space!
I hope you enjoyed our selection of Magical Activity Spaces and please do share with us what you have done for your own spaces.
Be inspired,
