Celebrating Independence Day this week inspired us to celebrate our children’s individuality. Shared spaces are practical, and should not limit us from being able to create a space where each child can thrive and have a sense of independence.
Inspired by 4th of July colors and elements, we put together set-ups that siblings can truly enjoy together, and still have sections they can call their own. We created a whimsical girls room, as well as a space for a newborn and toddler featuring wall decals from Rocky Mountain decals.
For this whimsical girls room, we played around with pinks, light grey and light blue hues with touches of pale gold accents. A color palette like this is able to unify the space despite the distinctions. We brought out our Dreamy Canopies in Light Pink and Light Grey for this space and decorated them with festive Large Sparkle Poms and Star Garlands.
We hung each canopy over a bed–one with a bed frame, and another on the floor which may be more comfortable and safer for younger children. Canopies are great elements to use when sectioning an area of a room. Accent decor pieces such as our Swan Princesses in Light Pink & White, Star Pillows in Rose Gold, Light Pink, Pale Gold, Oyster & Silver and Dreamy Bow Cushion in Light Pink also add a distinct personality to each section.
It’s important to also have a common area that the children can bond over. In this case, we placed a bookshelf in between both beds which they are able to enjoy together.
In our shared space for a newborn and toddler, we applied the same principles of sectioning areas with canopies. We placed our Sheer Canopy in Minty Blue over a crib, and our Sheer Canopy in Light Pink over a small bed. Star Garlands add that magical touch to each corner.
The common area in this space is where we placed our Bunny Library for books and keepsake toys. We kept the color palette within pastel hues and made sure there was a balance of these throughout the space.
As we did in the previous room, we peppered this space with decor pieces and toys that celebrate each child’s personality and individuality including our Star Pillows in Rose Gold, Vintage Blue, Oyster and Pale Gold and friends from Wild At Heart collection, Teddy Bear, Sam Sloth, Gabi Giraffe, Bella Bunny & Patchi Dog.
We hope these rooms inspire you to create special areas where your children can develop their own independence and thrive within a shared room!
Be Inspired,
